The only thing I wish I could change about this place is the fact that it closes at 2:30pm, but besides that, I’m definitely sure that I’ll be here again.
I’ve heard the name Snooze many times before but was not really knowledgeable of what type of food was offered here. Thankfully, when the opportunity presented itself in the shape of a meet up with a girlfriend, we both decided that Snooze would be a great place to meet. Especially since I had never been there before and she was a huge advocate of it.
Upon arrival, I was surprised at all the different options that were available on the menu. There was something for even the pickiest of eaters! Below is a picture of the menu and right off the back it looks jam packed with different delicacies. But would you believe that there’s more selections on the back?!
After perusing both sides for a few minutes, I decided to go with the shrimp and grits since I can’t recall ever ordering shrimp and grits at a restaurant before. The dish consisted of a homestyle cheesy grits loaded with sauteed shrimp, andouille sausage, peppers and leeks, topped with an egg your choice ! Yummm right?? The menu also suggested that I get my eggs sunny side up but I decided to stick with what I’m used to and got it scrambled. Haha
After a few bites, I started to wonder if I’ve ever had a good meal prior to this! The grits were the perrrfect texture and the shrimp was nothing close to skanty. The thickness of the sausage was just right and the peppers/leeks truly brought everything together. I reminisce about the meal sometimes and usually thank God for making my first experience there an amazing one, hopefully my next few visits will be just as great but if not I’ll always remember my first visit there!
Below is the dish my friend ordered. At first glimpse it looks extremely healthy and makes you wonder if it actually tastes good but surprisingly it did! I was skeptical about trying it but my friend raved about how even their healthy alternatives are delicious so that’s really pleasing to know!
So if you’re ever in Houston, make it your mission to stop by Snooze for a yummy bite to eat before starting your day or even for brunch. The city has two locations but the one I visited is stationed in Montrose!
