It’s no secret that life can be a tad bit difficult at times… especially when nothing seems to be going right, but has it ever occurred to you that the “mess” you feel you’re in is actually ALSO apart of God’s divine plan for your life? It’s only after you’ve experienced being at the right place, at the right time that you can truly understand the significance of those “wrong times”. Hold on, let me tell you what I mean by that. I spent a good majority of 2017 searching for my purpose. But what hindered me the most during that time was that I had no idea where to look first. I felt confused all the time because I had no idea what I was passionate about in the first place. To make things worse, I didn’t have a steady church that I went to. The search for the “perfect” church led me to go through all of last year continuously church hopping. It wasn’t until the end of 2017, that I finally decided to submit to God’s will and officially become a member at a church that I should have been at all along.
Don’t get me wrong, transitioning into a new church isn’t easy. When entering a new environment, you’re forced to adapt to the current church culture or risk being an outcast, but that wasn’t the case here. Not only was I accepted for who I am, but I was able to connect with so many amazing people who sincerely cared about me and my well-being. To tell you the truth, I honestly would not have the job that I do now if it wasn’t for the prayers, empowerment and advice from the mentors that I was blessed to cross paths with at my new church. Wait, let me say it again in case you missed it. I got the job I have now, because of the confidence that was brought on by the lunch dates and after church girl talks with people who I would have not crossed paths with or been able to develop a relationship with, outside of my church. The same church I continuously ran from even tough I secretly knew that this was where I was supposed to be.
Life literally changed in a blink of an eye after I became intentional about submitting my plans to God and till today, I can’t help but think what would have happened if I wasn’t at the right place, at the right time. What if I had ignored the still, small voice that kept telling me to “go back to that church”? What if I had pushed away the urge to serve and be an active member of my new-found community? What if I had not reached out to someone or pursued questions about the different resources available to me? What if I was unable to build relationships with people or was plagued with trust issues?
Have you ever sat and thought, what if I had never made that decision? Just in case you weren’t aware, divine encounters are happening in the most simplest ways and if we’re not careful, we could miss a destiny helper. Destiny helpers are the people who were sent by God to help us progress forward on our path to wherever our purpose lies. Simple conversations with people at the mall or at an event have the potential to be so much more if we’re willing to listen to our intuition and step out of our comfort zone.
I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason and that a cycle of trials won’t truly end until we fully learn what we are suppose to learn from it. Every test has a lesson/purpose behind it, one does not merely become great by running down a smooth path. No, it’s the potholes we have to manuever around and the hurdles we have to jump that makes our legs strong enough to be able to run even harder races.
Have you ever found yourself at the right place at the right time? What did it feel like? And if you’re currently in that season, are you actively making the best of where you are now? On the other hand, if you find yourself constantly appearing at the wrong place, at the wrong time, do you think it’s time to start making different movements? Do you find yourself resisting the urge to commit or to invest in something and make excuses as to why not pursuing that idea is the right thing to do? A lot of what we’ve gone through begins to make sense the farther along our journey we go, but the triumphs won’t occur unless we decide to stop and listen to the greatest guide the world has ever seen. For only God knows the plans he has for us, so why not seek him about them?
